Columbus, also known as “The Arch City,” is the capital and largest city in Ohio. Locals remember its nickname from the huge arches that spanned High Street at the turn of the century to provide electric power to streetcars and illuminate the thoroughfare—today, they have been reconstructed in the beautifully historic Short North district for all to enjoy. Columbus is divided into a number of distinctive, welcoming neighborhoods, including German Village and Victorian Village, which display ornate, beautifully kept homes. With over 100,000 college residents as well, Ohio State University, Franklin University, and Columbus State Community College form the ideal college hub. It is no surprise, then, that fast food chains like Steak Escape, Wendy’s, and White Castle are all based in Columbus. No matter what the age, family and friends can get a bite to eat and catch an Ohio State Buckeyes game, visit the Columbus Zoo, or spend an afternoon at the Columbus Metropolitan Library. The kids will love the Ohio State Fair, Columbus Arts Festival, and the Jazz and Ribs Festival—which all take place on the downtown riverfront. With never-ending fun, you can easily walk to ComFest, a gigantic three-day music festival with live musicians, body painting, art vendors, and plenty of beer. Columbus is also home to Cardinal Health and Nationwide Insurance, which continue to expand and provide increasingly more employment opportunities. This hometown is rich in history; your own household may have been part of the Underground Railroad, and Columbus has produced more U.S. presidents than any other state! Living in Columbus, Ohio makes history come alive—where you create new memories everyday and re-discover what it means to have fun.

A Serious Steakhouse with More than Just Steaks

Ruths Chris Steak HouseOne can only expect the best at Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse. As Ruth Fertel once said, "It's the sizzle that sets us apart from the stuffy, stodgy, old-line steak houses. You have a great steak at Ruth's Chris, but you also have a great time, and you always leave with great memories."

This is the place that showed the world how great a steak can be: carefully selected and aged for tenderness and then cut thick to ensure juiciness. Then, seared to perfection at 1800 degrees. Finally, seasoned simply with salt, black pepper and a touch of parsley. Topped with fresh butter that sizzles seductively on your plate, announcing the arrival of a great steak.

At Ruth's Chris, while steak is king, the royal family is large. Be sure to also try the Market Fresh Seafood selection, cooked to perfection. Or the popular Ahi Tuna Stack, seared rare, topped with Colossal lump crabmeat and served sizzling with red pepper pesto. There's even something for vegetarians. The Grilled Portobello Mushrooms - marinated Portobello mushrooms on fluffy garlic mashed potatoes with grilled asparagus, broccoli, tomatoes and sizzling lemon butter is sure to please your palette.

Fresh ingredients are at the core of Ruth’s Chris steakhouse and that philosophy extends from the kitchen to the wine cellar to the bar. So, enjoy a martini with your favorite vodka, whether that's Grey Goose, Armadale or Chopin. If you're a Scotch drinker, be sure to try the 25-year-old Macallan single malt. Of course, the restaurant also has the finest vintages from the world's greatest wineries, by the bottle or by the glass. At Ruth's Chris, your meal will always have the perfect accompaniment.

Clearly, Ruth’s Chris take their food seriously, but they’re also serious about making sure you have a good time. So you won't find the stodgy, uptight attitude you might find at other steak houses. So, feel free to laugh out loud, stay a while and experience the sizzle.

Ohio is a great example of a Midwestern state. The people are friendly and down to earth, the land is fertile, and all of the seasons are pronounced, from spring flowers, to warm summer days, to colorful fall foliage, to winter snows. The terrain is mostly flat with well-constructed highways, making it easy to travel around and experience all that Ohio has to offer, including two of America’s defining cities, Cincinnati and Cleveland. Cincinnati highlights include the Cincinnati Art Museum, the Taft Museum, and the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Gardens. Cleveland highlights include the Great Lakes Science Center, the Cleveland Museum of Natural History, and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, a hit for young and old alike. Both cities offer an array of tantalizing restaurants and exciting nightlife you’d expect to find in thriving American cities. Ohio is also a sports fan’s dream, particularly if you’re a Cleveland or Cincinnati fan. Major League teams include the Cincinnati Reds and Cleveland Indians baseball, Cincinnati Bengals and Cleveland Browns football, Cleveland Cavaliers basketball, and of course, the Columbus Blue Jackets hockey team. There’s also fun for the entire family at Cedar Point Amusement Park and the Kalahari Indoor Water Park, both in Sandusky. And that’s not all. Ohio also has over 300 miles of coastline thanks to the border it shares with Lake Erie, one of the nation’s Great Lakes. This gives visitors access to recreational activities such as fishing, swimming, boating, and waterskiing, just to name a few.
